AYSO United Channel Islands

Boys 2010

The AYSO United Channel Islands Boys 2010 team will be hosting open training sessions during the month of December looking for players to fill two, possibly three, open roster positions as our team moves up to 9v9 play next season. Open training sessions replace formal tryouts for potential new players to come to our regularly scheduled practices and train with our existing team during a typical training session. This format gives us the best opportunity to evaluate players and then make the appropriate assessments.

Our team plays a high scoring - high press style of offense with a rapid recovering defense. We have scored 61 goals in league play while only conceding 13 in our 11 league games, so we are looking primarily for midfielders with the stamina and speed to play up top and recover on defense quickly, and defenders capable of providing lock-down defense with the potential to penetrate in to the attacking third; though all players of all abilities are encouraged to try-out with us.

We are looking to finalize our 2020 roster by the end of December as we will be competing in Cal South's State Cup throughout the month of January and possibly until the end of February. After that we will go on hiatus until July. While players selected to join the team will not be allowed to play with us during State Cup, we do get together quite often during the "off-season" for team building events.

Our team first formed last year playing AYSO EXTRA and enjoyed immediate success finishing in 2nd place in our division with an 11-2 record and a 2nd place tie in the AYSO Western States Championships. We moved up to AYSO United this year and began club play in Coast Soccer League, starting the season winning the championship at the Thousand Oaks Classic and are now currently sitting in 2nd place in CSL's Bronze Beta bracket playing against other club teams such as LA Galaxy Conejo Valley, MSA, and VC Fusion.

But we are more than that. We are a family and we strive to constantly build on what we have accomplished so far and are looking for good kids with good families that wish to join us on our journey, having fun playing soccer - while saving approximately a thousand dollars a year compared to other soccer clubs - on a team coached by fully qualified United States Soccer Federation certified coaches - playing competitive soccer in the Coast Soccer League.

Our team spends a lot of time together on and off the soccer fields so if you are interested in joining us or have any questions, please contact Head Coach Phil Poulsen at [email protected] or Team Manager Maribel Borja at [email protected] for more information. We strongly encourage parents to attend these open training sessions to spend time talking with our family.

Thanks,
Phil Poulsen
